#LABrunchParty Fun!!

One of the greatest things about being a creative person in today's world, is the amazing community you can find online. Blogs, Instagram, FB groups... there are just so many ways to connect with others doing similar things and form friendships- with people who just, like, get you man. ;) The challenge of that though, is that people are spread out all over the country (and the world!) and so the chances of meeting most of them face-to-face are slim. I don't know about you, but sometimes I still struggle with referring to some of these people as my "friends" (which they most definitely are!!) when I can't say I've ever met them. Like, I'm telling my mom "Oh yeah so my friend Jess-" and she'll say "How do you know her?" "Oh it's cool mom, we met on an app!" So when my friend Alisha (yes, I know her IN REAL LIFE!!) mentioned she was flying out to LA and had the brilliant idea to plan a meet-up party with some of our creative community friends, I. Was. SO DOWN!!

VENUE // Pitchoun Bakery

We knew before we got too involved with our planning (the colors! the goodie bags! the guest list!), we needed a space. Somewhere relatively central for LA folks, and preferably with tasty food. Pitchoun is a French bakery + cafe located in DTLA, with the largest living wall in LA (#goals). More importantly, they have the most delicious croissants in LA (and I ate three the day of our event). We reached out to them to see if they would be interested in hosting a group of fun creatives, and they said yes!

For the decor, we kept it simple and fun. I painted some colorful swashes that we turned into placemats and gift tags, and Alisha created an amazing rainbow-drink-umbrella background- which was definitely our most photo'ed attraction!! (Want to learn how to make one? Check out her blog!) Our party-loving friend Amber of Dixie & Twine, also created a custom gold glitter banner with our event name- #LABrunchParty- which was the perfect pop against the bright orange Pitchoun tables.

GUESTS //

Since the event was taking place in DTLA, we stuck to a guest list of mostly SoCal residents (we made a few exceptions for folks we knew would be in town). As big as it may seem, the Instagram creative community really is a small world and after we each made a preliminary list, we compared notes and found much of it was the same. For space reasons, we capped our list at about 20 (but have also since started planning a larger future meet-up...stay tuned for that!!).

FOOD //

Since it was hosted by the delicious Pitchoun Bakery, our menu was theirs! Macarons, fresh croissants, tabouli salad, chocolate eclairs...and did I mention the croissants?! Next time you're downtown, you definitely have to try Pitchoun for lunch or pick-me-up cappuccino- they've only been open a few months but I have feeling they won't stay secret for long!

GIFT BAGS //

Ok, so I know what you really want to know... what is in those gift bags?!!! So much good stuff!! A party isn't really a party without some sweet swag, and I think these fit the bill. From color-blocked notebooks, gold-detailed rope bracelets, neon socks, and lots more... these bags were fun!! (WANT TO WIN ONE?! Head to Instagram and look for this post to enter to win!)

So, in summation... the LA Brunch Party rocked!!! Spending a couple hours chatting with such a mix of interesting people and not just putting faces to names, but really getting to know more about everyone- there's just nothing like it!

And like I mentioned above, we're in the midst of planning another meet-up in the near future, so if you'd love to be a part of it, make sure you email me!

A HUGE thank-you to our host, Pitchoun Bakery, and all of our goodie bag vendors- you are amazing!!! And an extra-special thank-you (and a hug!) to my IRL friend + cohost, Alisha. ;)
